Bengaluru Tops India’s Women-Friendly Cities 2025
Bengaluru has been ranked as the most women-friendly city in India, according to the Top Cities for Women in India (TCWI) 2025 report by Avtar. The study evaluated 125 cities across the country based on two primary pillars: Social Inclusion and Industrial Inclusion. Bengaluru secured the top spot with a City Inclusion Score (CIS) of 53.2, followed by Chennai (49.8) and Pune (46.2). The report highlights that cities in the Southern region of India continue to lead the way in creating safer and more inclusive environments for women.
The success of these cities is attributed to strong industrial inclusion, robust safety systems, and effective skilling and career enablers. While Bengaluru leads overall, Chennai excels specifically in social inclusion, which measures factors like health, safety, and gender parity. A notable development in this year's rankings is Gurugram's rise to the 6th position, showing significant improvement in North India. Additionally, Tier-2 cities are increasingly gaining ground, indicating that women-friendly infrastructure and policies are expanding beyond the traditional major metropolitan areas.
