The Government of India has approved 29 applications under the fourth tranche of the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme, a major step toward strengthening India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem.

This is India’s first dedicated Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme focused on passive electronic components, such as:

• Resistors
• Capacitors
• Speakers & microphones
• Relays, switches, connectors
• Special ceramics

The scheme aims to boost domestic manufacturing and reduce dependence on imports.

🎯 Objective

The scheme seeks to develop a strong component manufacturing ecosystem by:

• Attracting global and domestic investments
• Integrating India’s electronics industry with Global Value Chains (GVCs)
• Strengthening supply chain resilience

💰 Incentive Structure

The scheme provides three types of incentives:

1. Turnover-linked incentive – Based on revenue generation
2. Capex-linked incentive – For investment in plant and machinery
3. Hybrid model – Combination of both

The incentives range from 1% to 10%, depending on the year and type of component.

👷 Employment & Duration

Employment generation is a mandatory requirement for all applicants, including both manufacturers and capital equipment producers.

The scheme has a six-year tenure, including a one-year gestation period.

🔌 Focus Area

The scheme focuses specifically on passive components, while active components fall under the scope of the India Semiconductor Mission.
