The Indian Navy has received INS Dunagiri, a modern stealth frigate under Project 17A, significantly enhancing India’s naval combat capabilities.

🚢 About INS Dunagiri

INS Dunagiri is the fifth ship of the Nilgiri-class (Project 17A) stealth frigates. It has been designed by the Warship Design Bureau and constructed by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers.

It is also a reincarnation of the earlier INS Dunagiri, a Leander-class frigate that served in the Indian Navy.

🔧 Propulsion System

INS Dunagiri uses Combined Diesel or Gas (CODOG) propulsion. It includes:

• A diesel engine and a gas turbine
• Controllable Pitch Propellers (CPP) on each shaft
• Advanced Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS)

This configuration provides both fuel efficiency and high-speed performance.
