1. Sophie Adenot Becomes First French Woman to Conduct a Spacewalk

French astronaut Sophie Adenot created history by becoming the first woman from France to perform a spacewalk outside the International Space Station (ISS).

The astronauts were assigned maintenance work related to the station's communication system. Their main task involved replacing a space-to-ground communication antenna.

9. UP Cabinet Removes Two-Year Gap Requirement for Maternity Leave

The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet approved 180 days of maternity leave for women state-government employees without requiring a mandatory two-year gap between two maternity leaves.

On 23 August 2023, Chandrayaan-3's Vikram lander successfully landed on the Moon.

• Fourth country to soft-land on the Moon.

Open to eligible large manufacturers and Electronics Manufacturing Services providers.

Incentives: approximately 2.25%–5%

TS2 – Indian Brands

Focused on Indian-owned mobile brands.

Base incentive – 5%

Additional incentive for Indian design and R&D – up to 3%

Eligibility

TS1 applicants require minimum FY 2025-26 turnover of approximately ₹10,000 crore.

TS2 applicants require turnover of approximately ₹1,000 crore and majority Indian ownership.

Localisation

An additional incentive of up to 1.5% may be available for domestic sourcing of specified components.

Expected Outcomes

Projected cumulative production – approximately ₹39 lakh crore

Expected direct employment – around 60,000 jobs
