Centre Launches ₹235 Crore Port Projects in Tamil Nadu
The Union Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways has initiated infrastructure projects worth ₹235 crore in Tamil Nadu to modernize maritime logistics. The projects were officially launched by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal during the “Viksit Bharat, Viksit Ports” programme held in Chennai. The total investment has been distributed between two primary entities. This digital platform aims to streamline and unify documentation and clearance procedures across all Indian ports. By replacing manual paperwork with an integrated digital system, the government intends to reduce the "turnaround time" for vessels, lower logistics costs, and improve the ease of doing business for international and domestic traders.
