India was placed 23rd in the Climate Change Performance Index 2026, moving from the high-performing group in the previous edition to the medium-performing group.

The Climate Change Performance Index is an independent monitoring instrument that compares climate-mitigation performance across major emitting countries and the European Union.
जलवायु परिवर्तन प्रदर्शन सूचकांक एक स्वतंत्र निगरानी उपकरण है जो प्रमुख उत्सर्जक देशों और यूरोपीय संघ के जलवायु शमन प्रदर्शन की तुलना करता है।

CCPI is published by Germanwatch, NewClimate Institute and Climate Action Network International. It has been published annually since 2005.
सीसीपीआई को जर्मनवॉच, न्यूक्लाइमेट इंस्टीट्यूट और क्लाइमेट एक्शन नेटवर्क इंटरनेशनल द्वारा प्रकाशित किया जाता है। इसे वर्ष 2005 से वार्षिक रूप से प्रकाशित किया जा रहा है।
Four Assessment Categories | मूल्यांकन की चार श्रेणियाँ
The index evaluates performance in four broad categories: greenhouse-gas emissions, renewable energy, energy use and climate policy. These dimensions are combined to assess progress toward climate mitigation.
यह सूचकांक चार व्यापक श्रेणियों में प्रदर्शन का मूल्यांकन करता है: ग्रीनहाउस गैस उत्सर्जन, नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा, ऊर्जा उपयोग और जलवायु नीति। इन आयामों को मिलाकर जलवायु शमन की दिशा में प्रगति का आकलन किया जाता है।

India ranked 23rd. The country received a medium assessment in greenhouse-gas emissions, climate policy and energy use, while renewable energy was assessed as low under the index's methodology.
भारत 23वें स्थान पर रहा। सूचकांक की पद्धति के अनुसार भारत को ग्रीनहाउस गैस उत्सर्जन, जलवायु नीति और ऊर्जा उपयोग में मध्यम तथा नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा श्रेणी में निम्न मूल्यांकन मिला।
Why Top Positions Can Remain Empty | शीर्ष स्थान रिक्त क्यों रहते हैं?
The CCPI has traditionally left the first three overall positions unoccupied when no country is judged to be performing sufficiently well across all categories to align with the index's benchmark for limiting global warming.
सीसीपीआई में परंपरागत रूप से पहले तीन समग्र स्थान रिक्त छोड़े जा सकते हैं यदि कोई भी देश सभी श्रेणियों में वैश्विक तापवृद्धि सीमित करने के लिए सूचकांक द्वारा निर्धारित मानक के अनुरूप पर्याप्त प्रदर्शन नहीं करता।
