Government e-Marketplace (GeM)’s Womaniya Initiative completed 7 years — January 16, 2026
GeM marked seven years of the Womaniya initiative, which has empowered over 2 lakh women-led MSEs that secured ₹80,000 crore in government orders, surpassing the 3% mandate with 4.7% participation. Launched in 2019, it provides a transparent digital marketplace for women entrepreneurs and SHGs. GeM also signed an MoU with the Women’s Collective Forum to further support women entrepreneurs.
सरकारी ई-मार्केटप्लेस (GeM) की “वोमेनिया” पहल ने 7 वर्ष पूरे किए। इस पहल ने 2 लाख से अधिक महिला-नेतृत्व वाले एमएसई को सशक्त किया, जिन्होंने ₹80,000 करोड़ के सरकारी ऑर्डर हासिल किए और 3% लक्ष्य को पार करते हुए 4.7% भागीदारी दर्ज की। 2019 में शुरू यह पहल महिलाओं और स्वयं सहायता समूहों को पारदर्शी डिजिटल बाजार उपलब्ध कराती है। GeM ने महिला उद्यमियों को समर्थन देने के लिए Women’s Collective Forum के साथ MoU भी किया।
DGFT Hosts National Conference on Strategic Trade Controls 2026 — January 16, 2026
DGFT, along with MEA and FIEO, organised the National Conference on Strategic Trade Controls (NCSTC) 2026 in New Delhi to review India’s SCOMET framework and dual-use export policies. The 3rd edition of the Handbook on India’s Strategic Trade Control System was released, and thematic sessions were held on export controls, supply-chain security, semiconductors and chemicals.
डीजीएफटी ने विदेश मंत्रालय और फिएओ के साथ मिलकर नई दिल्ली में NCSTC-2026 आयोजित किया, जिसमें भारत की SCOMET प्रणाली और दोहरे उपयोग वाली निर्यात नीतियों की समीक्षा की गई। “India’s Strategic Trade Control System” की तीसरी हैंडबुक जारी की गई और निर्यात नियंत्रण, आपूर्ति-श्रृंखला सुरक्षा, सेमीकंडक्टर तथा रसायन विषयों पर सत्र हुए।
Shatrujeet Kapoor appointed ITBP DG; Praveen Kumar to lead BSF — January 16, 2026
Senior IPS officer Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor was appointed Director General of ITBP, succeeding Praveen Kumar, who became DG of BSF. Kapoor (1990 batch, Haryana cadre) will serve till 31 October 2026, while Kumar (1993 batch) will lead BSF till September 2030.
वरिष्ठ आईपीएस अधिकारी शत्रुजीत सिंह कपूर को ITBP का महानिदेशक नियुक्त किया गया। प्रवीण कुमार अब BSF के नए महानिदेशक होंगे। कपूर 31 अक्टूबर 2026 तक पद पर रहेंगे, जबकि कुमार सितंबर 2030 तक BSF का नेतृत्व करेंगे।
BEL, Garuda Aerospace tie up for indigenous defence drones — January 16, 2026
Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) and Garuda Aerospace signed an MoU to jointly supply indigenous Unmanned Aerial Systems to India’s defence forces. BEL will be the lead bidder while Garuda will handle design, manufacturing and deployment. The partnership strengthens Aatmanirbhar Bharat in defence technology.
BEL और गरुड़ एयरोस्पेस ने स्वदेशी ड्रोन बनाने के लिए समझौता किया। BEL मुख्य बोलीदाता रहेगा और गरुड़ डिजाइन-निर्माण-तैनाती संभालेगा। यह साझेदारी आत्मनिर्भर भारत को मजबूती देती है।
RBI recognises FEDAI as forex dealers’ SRO — January 16, 2026
RBI recognised FEDAI as a Self-Regulatory Organisation for authorised forex dealers under its Omnibus framework and gave it one year to align governance norms and expand membership.
RBI ने FEDAI को अधिकृत विदेशी मुद्रा डीलरों के लिए SRO मान्यता दी और शासन मानकों को मजबूत करने हेतु एक वर्ष का समय दिया।
RBI orders auto-escalation of unresolved bank complaints — January 16, 2026
RBI directed banks and eligible NBFCs to automatically escalate partly resolved or rejected complaints to the Internal Ombudsman, who will get 10–20 days for review. Only complaints already examined by banks will be reconsidered.
RBI ने बैंकों को अधूरे या अस्वीकृत शिकायतों को स्वचालित रूप से आंतरिक लोकपाल को भेजने का आदेश दिया, जिन्हें समीक्षा के लिए 10–20 दिन मिलेंगे।
Rakesh Aggarwal appointed NIA Director General — January 16, 2026
Himachal cadre IPS officer Rakesh Aggarwal (1994 batch) was appointed NIA Director General till 31 August 2028. He earlier served in NIA and CBI.
राकेश अग्रवाल को 31 अगस्त 2028 तक NIA महानिदेशक नियुक्त किया गया। वे पहले NIA और CBI में सेवा दे चुके हैं।
Indian Oil–BPCL JV strikes oil in Abu Dhabi — January 16, 2026
Urja Bharat (IOCL-BPCL JV) discovered oil at two sites in Abu Dhabi’s Onshore Block-1. XN-76 produced light crude from Shilaif formation, and a second find at XN-79 will be appraised for viability.

India registered the Karan Fries breed developed by NDRI Karnal by crossbreeding Holstein Friesian with Tharparkar cattle. It yields about 3,550 kg milk per lactation with peaks up to 46.5 kg/day.
