Overview
English: The Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, organised the two-day PSB Confluence 2026 in New Delhi on 17–18 August 2026. What are PSBs and PFIs?

The first day emphasised the first four topics.

Key Remarks and Highlights
English: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary addressed participants on the opening day. Sitharaman noted that 29% of India’s population falls in the 15–29 age group and highlighted the Mera Yuva Bharat platform, which has over 2.6 crore registered users. She also observed that historically low levels of Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) give public sector banks scope to pursue further reforms.

Committee on Banking Reforms
English: The Finance Minister announced that the Central Government will soon set up a high-powered committee on banking reforms for Viksit Bharat. Outputs from PSB Confluence 2026 will be shared as inputs to the committee.
