ECI to Host First India International Conference on Democracy (IICDEM 2026)
The Election Commission of India (ECI) is set to host the inaugural India International Conference on Democracy and Election Management (IICDEM 2026). This landmark event will take place from January 21 to 23, 2026, at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Organized by the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM) under the aegis of the ECI, the conference aims to establish India as a global center for dialogue on democratic governance and electoral integrity.
The theme for this first-ever edition is “Democracy for an inclusive, peaceful, resilient and sustainable world.” The conference follows India's assumption of the Chairship of the Council of Member States of International IDEA for the year 2026. Led by Chief Election Commissioner Shri Gyanesh Kumar, the event will bring together nearly 100 international delegates from Election Management Bodies (EMBs) worldwide, as well as representatives from academic giants like the IITs and IIMs. A key highlight will be the launch of ECINet, a platform designed for global electoral cooperation and the exchange of best practices.

भारत निर्वाचन आयोग (ECI) पहले भारत अंतर्राष्ट्रीय लोकतंत्र और चुनाव प्रबंधन सम्मेलन (IICDEM 2026) की मेजबानी करने के लिए तैयार है। यह ऐतिहासिक आयोजन 21 से 23 जनवरी, 2026 तक नई दिल्ली के भारत मंडपम में आयोजित किया जाएगा। ईसीआई के तत्वावधान में इंडिया इंटरनेशनल इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ डेमोक्रेसी एंड इलेक्शन मैनेजमेंट (IIIDEM) द्वारा आयोजित यह सम्मेलन, भारत को लोकतांत्रिक शासन और चुनावी अखंडता पर संवाद के लिए एक वैश्विक केंद्र के रूप में स्थापित करने का प्रयास है।
इस पहले संस्करण का विषय (Theme) "एक समावेशी, शांतिपूर्ण, लचीला और टिकाऊ दुनिया के लिए लोकतंत्र" रखा गया है। यह सम्मेलन वर्ष 2026 के लिए 'इंटरनेशनल आइडिया' (International IDEA) के सदस्य देशों की परिषद की अध्यक्षता भारत द्वारा ग्रहण किए जाने के बाद आयोजित हो रहा है। मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त श्री ज्ञानेश कुमार के नेतृत्व में होने वाले इस कार्यक्रम में दुनिया भर के चुनाव प्रबंधन निकायों (EMB) के लगभग 100 अंतरराष्ट्रीय प्रतिनिधि और आईआईटी (IIT) व आईआईएम (IIM) जैसे प्रमुख शैक्षणिक संस्थानों के प्रतिनिधि हिस्सा लेंगे। इस आयोजन का एक मुख्य आकर्षण ECINet का शुभारंभ होगा, जो वैश्विक चुनावी सहयोग और सर्वोत्तम प्रथाओं के आदान-प्रदान के लिए बनाया गया एक मंच है।
