8th BRICS Youth Energy Summit — Overview
India hosted the virtual Eighth BRICS Youth Energy Summit on 17 August 2026 during its BRICS Chairship. The event brought together over 100 participants from academia, government bodies and energy ministries across BRICS countries.
भारत ने 17 अगस्त 2026 को अपने BRICS चेयरशिप के दौरान आठवाँ BRICS यूथ एनर्जी समिट वर्चुअल रूप में आयोजित किया। इस कार्यक्रम में BRICS देशों के शैक्षणिक संस्थान, सरकारी निकाय और ऊर्जा मंत्रालयों के 100 से अधिक प्रतिभागी जुड़े।
Themes and Priority Areas
The summit followed India's chairship theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.” The Energy Track used the motto “सर्वेषां ऊर्जम्” (Energy for All). More than 20 youth panellists shared country perspectives under three priority areas.
समिट ने भारत के अध्यक्षता थीम "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability" को अपनाया। एनर्जी ट्रैक के रूप में "सर्वेषां ऊर्जम्" (Energy for All) रखा गया। 20 से अधिक युवा पैनलिस्टों ने तीन प्राथमिक क्षेत्रों में अपने-अपने देश के दृष्टिकोण साझा किए।

Institutions and Key Participants
Organisations represented included the BRICS Youth Energy Agency, Sustainable Energy for All, the International Solar Alliance (ISA) and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). Discussions connected youth voices with policy and industry stakeholders.

Key subjects debated were diversification of the energy mix, resilient energy supply chains, innovative financing mechanisms and digitalisation of energy systems, including smart grids and storage solutions.

India's Domestic Initiatives Referred
India highlighted national clean energy efforts cited during the summit, including PM-KUSUM and PM Surya Ghar. The BRICS Digital Centre of Excellence on Smart Grids and Energy Storage was also mentioned.
समिट में भारत ने अपने घरेलू स्वच्छ ऊर्जा कार्यक्रमों का उल्लेख किया, जिनमें PM-KUSUM और PM Surya Ghar शामिल थे। साथ ही BRICS Digital Centre of Excellence on Smart Grids and Energy Storage का भी हवाला दिया गया।
Follow-up BRICS Youth Events in India
The virtual summit was followed by the BRICS Youth Council Meeting and Youth Summit in Gandhinagar, Gujarat on 19–20 August 2026. The BRICS Youth Ministers’ Meeting was scheduled in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh on 22 August 2026.
