1. World MSME Day Observed on June 27

World MSME Day is observed every year on June 27 to recognize the significant contribution of Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) to economic growth, employment generation, innovation, and sustainable development. The day also raises awareness about the challenges faced by MSMEs, including limited access to finance, technology, and infrastructure. It encourages governments and financial institutions to create a supportive business environment that enables small businesses to thrive and contribute to inclusive economic development.

2. India Organises First-Ever Mango Promotion Events in Iceland

India conducted its first-ever mango promotion events in Iceland to expand the global reach of premium Indian mangoes and strengthen agricultural exports in Northern Europe. Organized jointly by the Embassy of India in Reykjavik and APEDA, the event showcased popular mango varieties including Dasheri, Chausa, Langra, and Kesar. The initiative also highlighted opportunities under the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA), which is expected to improve market access and trade cooperation.

3. Drugs Rules, 1945 Strengthened with QR Code-Based Traceability

The Drugs Rules, 1945, framed under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, provide the legal framework for regulating the manufacture, distribution, and sale of medicines and cosmetics in India. Recent amendments have expanded the QR code-based traceability system to cover vaccines, antimicrobials, anti-cancer drugs, and narcotic medicines. The initiative aims to eliminate counterfeit medicines, improve supply chain transparency, strengthen public health, and combat antimicrobial resistance.

4. Pradeep Singh Kharola Appointed Executive Advisor to Air India Chairman

Pradeep Singh Kharola, a 1985-batch IAS officer and former Civil Aviation Secretary, has been appointed as the Executive Advisor to Air India Chairman N. Chandrasekaran. He has also been inducted as a full member of the airline's management committee. His appointment is intended to support the leadership transition as CEO Campbell Wilson prepares to step down. Kharola played a key role in the privatization of Air India and has extensive experience in aviation administration.

5. India Launches Operation Amistad for Earthquake Relief in Venezuela

India launched Operation Amistad, a humanitarian relief mission, to assist Venezuela following a devastating earthquake. Conducted under India's Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) framework, the mission includes medical equipment, relief supplies, portable hospitals, rescue teams, and humanitarian assistance. The Indian Air Force deployed C-17 Globemaster aircraft to transport aid, reaffirming India's commitment to supporting friendly nations during humanitarian crises.

6. INS Udaygiri and INS Kavaratti Visit Vietnam

Indian Naval ships INS Udaygiri and INS Kavaratti completed a successful port call in Vietnam as part of India's operational deployment in Southeast Asia. During the visit, the Indian Navy conducted professional exchanges and bilateral maritime exercises with the Vietnam People's Navy. The deployment supports India's Act East Policy and MAHASAGAR vision by strengthening maritime cooperation, regional security, and defence ties in the Indo-Pacific.

7. Ashok Dinda Appointed Head of Vision 2028 by CAB

Former Indian fast bowler Ashok Dinda has been appointed as the Head of Vision 2028 and Fast Bowling Coach by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). Vision 2028 is a long-term cricket development programme beginning in July 2026, focusing on nurturing talent across Under-16, Under-19, Under-23, and senior men's and women's teams. The initiative aims to build a strong and structured cricket development ecosystem in West Bengal.

8. India-Tajikistan Counter-Terrorism Meeting Held in Dushanbe

The 5th India-Tajikistan Joint Working Group (JWG) on Counter-Terrorism was held in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, on June 24, 2026. The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation against terrorism, violent extremism, radicalisation, terrorist financing, and drug trafficking. Both countries also emphasized collaboration through international platforms such as the United Nations, SCO-RATS, and the Eurasian Group to address regional and global security challenges.

9. Odisha Launches GO-EAST Policy

The Government of Odisha launched the GO-EAST (Government of Odisha Eastern Investment Accelerator and Special Task Force) policy to accelerate industrial development and attract fresh investments. The initiative includes faster project approvals, real-time monitoring, dedicated investor facilitation, and additional incentives for industries in backward districts. Through GO-EAST, Odisha aims to emerge as Eastern India's leading manufacturing hub while promoting balanced regional economic growth.

10. India Completes First Commercial Sea Shipment of Banganapalle Mangoes to Singapore

India successfully completed its first commercial sea shipment of Banganapalle mangoes to Singapore, marking a significant milestone in agricultural exports. The 5-metric-tonne consignment was coordinated by APEDA in collaboration with ICAR–Central Institute for Subtropical Horticulture (CISH). The successful sea shipment demonstrates a cost-effective and environmentally sustainable logistics model that is expected to improve global market access for premium Indian mangoes.
