Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the new automated milk processing plant of Madhur Dairy at Dashela in Gandhinagar on 17 May 2026. The project was inaugurated under the Ministry of Cooperation and is considered an important step toward strengthening India’s dairy cooperative sector.
The milk processing plant has been developed at a cost of ₹128 crore over an area of 15 acres. The facility has an initial milk processing capacity of 2.5 lakh litres per day, which can later be expanded to 5 lakh litres per day depending on future demand and production growth.
The inauguration is also linked with the broader vision of “White Revolution 2.0.” This initiative aims to triple India’s milk production over the next 10 years by strengthening cooperative institutions, improving dairy infrastructure, and increasing the income of milk producers.
Under White Revolution 2.0, the government plans to use the cooperative model to ensure that profits directly reach the bank accounts of milk producers and farmers. The initiative focuses on rural development, women empowerment, and increasing agricultural income through dairy activities.
A major technological feature introduced during the programme was Amul’s AI-based digital assistant named “Sarlaben.” The AI assistant is designed to provide technological guidance, information support, and digital empowerment to rural women and livestock farmers. It is expected to help dairy farmers with animal care, milk production management, and cooperative-related services.
Madhur Dairy was established in 1971 with an initial milk collection capacity of only 6,000 litres. Over the years, it has expanded significantly and currently records an annual turnover of around ₹628 crore. The organization is headquartered in Gandhinagar.

यह परियोजना “White Revolution 2.0” अभियान से भी जुड़ी हुई है। इस पहल का उद्देश्य अगले 10 वर्षों में भारत के दूध उत्पादन को तीन गुना बढ़ाना है। इसके लिए सहकारी संस्थाओं को मजबूत करना, डेयरी अवसंरचना विकसित करना तथा दुग्ध उत्पादकों की आय बढ़ाना प्रमुख लक्ष्य हैं।
White Revolution 2.0 के अंतर्गत सरकार सहकारी मॉडल के माध्यम से यह सुनिश्चित करना चाहती है कि दूध उत्पादकों और किसानों को लाभ सीधे उनके बैंक खातों में प्राप्त हो। यह पहल ग्रामीण विकास, महिला सशक्तिकरण और डेयरी आधारित आय वृद्धि पर केंद्रित है।
कार्यक्रम के दौरान Amul की AI आधारित डिजिटल सहायक “Sarlaben” को भी प्रस्तुत किया गया। यह AI डिजिटल सहायक ग्रामीण महिलाओं और पशुपालकों को तकनीकी मार्गदर्शन, सूचना सहायता और डिजिटल सशक्तिकरण प्रदान करेगी। इससे डेयरी किसानों को पशु देखभाल, दूध उत्पादन प्रबंधन और सहकारी सेवाओं में सहायता मिलेगी।
Madhur Dairy की स्थापना 1971 में केवल 6,000 लीटर दूध संग्रह क्षमता के साथ हुई थी। वर्तमान में इसका वार्षिक कारोबार लगभग ₹628 करोड़ है। इसका मुख्यालय Gandhinagar में स्थित है।
