RRB NTPC Graduate CBT 1 Exam 2026: Tentative Schedule Announced
The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, issued an indicative notice dated 12 October 2026 for the first-stage Computer-Based Test (CBT 1) of CEN No. 06/2026, covering graduate-level Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) posts. According to this notice, the examination is tentatively planned to begin in the fourth week of December 2026. This is a provisional starting period, not a confirmed examination date for every candidate.
The RRBs have explicitly stated that a separate announcement will provide the exact examination dates once finalised. Candidates should therefore avoid interpreting any particular day in December as confirmed. The examination city intimation and e-call letter schedules are also not specified in this indicative notice.
What does the official notice say?
The notice gives five important messages. First, CBT 1 for CEN 06/2026 is expected to start in the fourth week of December. Second, a separate notice will announce the final dates. Third, the advance information is intended to help candidates organise revision, travel and other examination arrangements. Fourth, students should rely on official RRB websites rather than unauthenticated messages. Fifth, candidates must be alert to intermediaries or agents who falsely promise railway jobs in exchange for money: recruitment is merit-based and subject to the prescribed selection process.
Recruitment overview
The 2026 graduate-level recruitment under CEN 06/2026 covers 3,548 vacancies, according to the Press Information Bureau's release of 11 October 2026. The notified post categories include Chief Commercial Cum Ticket Supervisor, Goods Train Manager, Junior Accounts Assistant Cum Typist and Senior Clerk Cum Typist. Applicants should consult the detailed CEN for post-specific eligibility, reservations and other conditions. The indicative CBT schedule itself does not announce fresh vacancies or amend eligibility rules.
Important dates and status
- Indicative CBT 1 schedule notice: 12 October 2026.
- Tentative CBT 1 commencement: fourth week of December 2026.

- Exam city information and admit card dates: await official confirmation.
- Graduate application deadline, as stated in the recruitment announcement: 6 November 2026.
How should students prepare?
With a tentative examination window available, students should build a realistic revision timetable rather than waiting for the final date sheet. Divide preparation between Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, and General Awareness, based on the official CBT syllabus. Begin with a diagnostic mock test to identify weak areas, then practise topic-wise questions daily. For Mathematics, revise arithmetic foundations such as percentage, ratio, profit and loss, averages, time and work, and speed and distance. For Reasoning, practise series, coding-decoding, analogies, classification, puzzles and logical problems. For General Awareness, combine static general knowledge, basic science, history, geography, polity and relevant current affairs.
After each mock test, spend time analysing errors, guessing habits and questions that took too long. Maintain a short error notebook and revisit it every few days. Practise under timed conditions to improve accuracy as well as speed. Use the latest official syllabus and examination instructions rather than assuming every older exam pattern remains unchanged.
