The Cabinet of Uttar Pradesh approved several major infrastructure, healthcare, energy, and administrative projects on 18 May 2026. These decisions included metro rail expansion projects in Lucknow and Agra, strengthening of power infrastructure, establishment of a new OBC commission, and development of medical facilities.

One of the most important decisions was the approval of the Charbagh to Vasant Kunj east-west metro corridor in Lucknow. The project was approved with a budget of ₹5,801 crore and is expected to improve urban transportation, reduce traffic congestion, and strengthen connectivity across the state capital.

The cabinet also approved land transfers for stations and elevated sections of the second corridor of the Agra Metro project. The expansion of metro connectivity in Agra is expected to improve public transport and support tourism in the historic city.

In the energy sector, the state government approved the establishment of a 765/400 kV transmission substation in Mirzapur. A project budget of ₹2,799.47 crore was sanctioned to strengthen regional power transmission, evacuation, and electricity distribution systems.

The cabinet also focused on healthcare infrastructure. It approved the construction of a 1,100-bed advanced emergency medical centre at the Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences located on Shaheed Path in Lucknow. The project was approved at a cost of ₹855 crore and aims to improve emergency healthcare services in the state.

Additional land transfers were also approved for the expansion and modernization of Swaroop Rani Hospital in Prayagraj.

Another significant decision was the establishment of the 5-member Uttar Pradesh State Dedicated Backward Class Commission. The commission will be headed by a retired High Court judge and will determine OBC reservation arrangements in three-tier panchayat elections.

The cabinet also issued a letter of intent for the establishment of Sardar Patel Apex University in Samaspur village located in Chunar tehsil of Mirzapur district.

स्वास्थ्य क्षेत्र में, सरकार ने Shaheed Path स्थित Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences में 1,100 बेड वाले उन्नत आपातकालीन चिकित्सा केंद्र की स्थापना को मंजूरी दी। इस परियोजना की लागत ₹855 करोड़ होगी और इसका उद्देश्य राज्य में बेहतर आपातकालीन स्वास्थ्य सेवाएँ प्रदान करना है।

इसके अतिरिक्त, Swaroop Rani Hospital, Prayagraj के विस्तार और उन्नयन के लिए अतिरिक्त भूमि हस्तांतरण को मंजूरी दी गई।

कैबिनेट ने 5 सदस्यीय Uttar Pradesh State Dedicated Backward Class Commission के गठन को भी मंजूरी दी। इस आयोग की अध्यक्षता एक सेवानिवृत्त उच्च न्यायालय न्यायाधीश करेंगे। आयोग तीन-स्तरीय पंचायत चुनावों में OBC आरक्षण तय करेगा।

इसके अलावा, Mirzapur जिले के Chunar तहसील के Samaspur गांव में Sardar Patel Apex University स्थापित करने हेतु Letter of Intent जारी किया गया।
