Why in the News?

The Ministry of Rural Development notified the Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025, which will replace Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) from July 1, 2026.

25% wage (first 30 days)
50% thereafter

4. Operational Framework

States can:
Pause work for 60 days during peak farming season
Welfare provision:
Female caretaker mandatory if:
≥5 children below 5 years at worksite
