WHO Declares Ebola Global Emergency in DRC and Uganda
The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the Ebola outbreak in Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Uganda a “Public Health Emergency of International Concern” on 17 May 2026.
The declaration was made due to the rapid spread of the virus and concerns about international transmission risks.
Origin and Spread of the Outbreak
