In a computer, which unit is responsible for processing data and is also called the electronic brain of the computer?
Correct Answer
A. Central Processing Unit (CPU)A.
Explanation
The correct answer is the Central Processing Unit (CPU).
According to the source, the CPU is considered the electronic brain of the computer.
The book states that it consists of a Memory, Control Unit and Arithmetic Logic Unit.
It further explains that the CPU performs basic arithmetic, logic, controlling and input
output operations specified by instructions in a program.
Therefore the complete source-supported revision chain is: CPU — Central Processing Unit — electronic brain of computer — processing data — Memory — Control Unit — Arithmetic Logic Unit — arithmetic operations — logic operations — controlling operations — input
output operations according to program instructions.
Hard Disk, RAM and Keyboard are distractors.
This question reinforces Q668, where the book also identifies the CPU as the brain of the computer.
However, Q674 gives more detail about the CPU's internal functional components and operations.
The statement that the CPU 'consists of a Memory, Control Unit and Arithmetic Logic Unit' is preserved exactly as the source's wording.
No attempt has been made to alter or reconcile its terminology using a different architecture model.
The source does not discuss registers, clock speed, cores, instruction cycles or processor manufacturers in this entry.
Quick revision: CPU = Electronic Brain — Memory + Control Unit + ALU according to source — performs Arithmetic, Logic, Control and I
O operations.
Therefore option (a) is correct.
इसलिए complete source-supported revision chain है: CPU — Central Processing Unit — Electronic Brain of Computer — Data Processing — Memory — Control Unit — Arithmetic Logic Unit — Arithmetic Operations — Logic Operations — Controlling — Input/Output Operations। 'CPU consists of a Memory, Control Unit and Arithmetic Logic Unit' wording source Quick revision: CPU = Electronic Brain — Source के अनुसार Memory + Control Unit + ALU — Arithmetic + Logic + Control + I/O Operations।
