Explanation

Kalhana was the author of Rajatarangini, a famous Sanskrit work dealing with the history of the rulers of Kashmir.
The title Rajatarangini is commonly translated as 'River of Kings'.
Kalhana composed the work in the 12th century, and the question bank places its composition around 1148–1149 CE.
Rajatarangini is particularly significant because Kalhana attempted to arrange rulers and events in a chronological narrative and drew upon earlier chronicles, inscriptions, coins, traditions and other materials available to him.
Although it is not historical writing in the modern academic sense, it is an exceptionally important source for the political and cultural history of Kashmir.
The distractors are themselves important literary figures.
Banabhatta wrote Harshacharita and is associated with Kadambari.
Kalidasa is famous for works including Abhijnanashakuntalam, Raghuvamsha, Meghaduta, Vikramorvashiyam and Kumarasambhavam.
Somadeva is associated with Kathasaritsagara, a celebrated Sanskrit collection of stories.
For exams, remember these author-work pairs carefully: Kalhana → Rajatarangini; Banabhatta → Harshacharita; Somadeva → Kathasaritsagara; Kalidasa → Abhijnanashakuntalam
Meghaduta.
Therefore, Kalhana is correct.

परीक्षा के लिए author-work pairs याद रखें: Kalhana → Rajatarangini; Banabhatta → Harshacharita; Somadeva → Kathasaritsagara।
