'Saga Dawa' is one of the biggest Buddhist festivals. In which state is it celebrated?
Correct Answer
C. SikkimC.
Explanation
The correct answer is Sikkim.
According to the source, Saga Dawa is called the 'month of merits' for Tibetan Buddhists.
The book explains that 'Dawa' means 'month' in Tibetan, while 'Saga' is the name of a star prominent in the sky during the fourth lunar month of the Tibetan calendar, when Saga Dawa is observed.
The source states that Saga Dawa usually begins in May and ends in June.
It celebrates the birth, parinirvana or death, and enlightenment of Buddha.
The book further states a traditional belief that positive and negative actions are multiplied during this period.
For Tibetan Buddhists, the month is therefore considered highly auspicious for meritorious actions, including pilgrimages to sacred places.
The source identifies holy Mount Kailash as the most auspicious pilgrimage place in this context.
This makes Q561 significantly richer than the preceding Saga Dawa question.
The complete source-based revision chain is: Saga Dawa — Sikkim — major Buddhist festival — Tibetan Buddhists — Month of Merits — Dawa = Month — Saga = name of a star — fourth lunar month of Tibetan calendar — usually May to June — Buddha's birth, enlightenment and parinirvana — auspicious time for meritorious actions and pilgrimages — Mount Kailash.
The options Odisha, Kerala and Jharkhand are not identified by the source.
Since the book explicitly gives Sikkim, option (c) is correct.
Source pilgrimages to sacred places Complete revision chain रखें: Saga Dawa — Sikkim — Major Buddhist Festival — Tibetan Buddhists — Month of Merits — Dawa = Month — Saga = Star — Fourth Lunar Month — May to June — Buddha's Birth, Enlightenment and Parinirvana — Meritorious Actions — Pilgrimages — Mount Kailash।
