American evolutionary biologist Toby Kiers received which prestigious environmental award in 2026?
Correct Answerसही उत्तर
A. Tyler Prize for Environmental AchievementA. Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement
Explanationव्याख्या
The correct answer is the 2026 Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement.
According to the source, American evolutionary biologist Toby Kiers received the 2026 Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement, an honour frequently referred to as the 'Nobel Prize for the Environment'.
She was recognised for groundbreaking research into mycorrhizal networks.
These are vast underground fungal networks that exchange nutrients such as phosphorus and nitrogen with plant roots.
The source highlights the environmental significance of these networks by describing them as critical climate regulators.
According to the material, they draw down approximately 13 billion tons of carbon annually, a quantity characterised as roughly one-third of global fossil-fuel emissions.
This numerical figure is especially important for examination purposes.
The source also discusses Kiers' concept of a 'biological marketplace'.
In a landmark 2011 study, she demonstrated that fungi can behave like 'shrewd traders', moving resources from areas where they are abundant to areas of scarcity in order to maximise the carbon received from plants in exchange.
Thus, her research connects fungal biology with nutrient exchange, plant-fungus cooperation, carbon regulation and resource allocation.
Students should remember the award-recipient-research linkage: Toby Kiers → American evolutionary biologist → 2026 Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement → 'Environment Nobel' → mycorrhizal fungal networks → phosphorus and nitrogen exchange → climate regulation → approximately 13 billion tons of carbon annually → biological marketplace → landmark 2011 study.
The other prizes in the options are not the award attributed to Kiers in this source.
The question can also be reversed by asking who won the 2026 Tyler Prize or which biological networks formed the basis of the recipient's research.
Since the source explicitly identifies Kiers as the 2026 Tyler Prize recipient, option A is correct.
सही उत्तर 2026 Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement है। Source के अनुसार American evolutionary biologist Toby Kiers को 2026 Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement दिया गया, जिसे frequently 'Nobel Prize for the Environment' कहा जाता है। Material के अनुसार ये annually approximately 13 billion tons carbon draw down करते हैं, जिसे roughly global fossil-fuel emissions के one-third के बराबर बताया गया है। Revision chain: Toby Kiers → American evolutionary biologist → Tyler Prize 2026 → Environment Nobel → mycorrhizal networks → phosphorus + nitrogen exchange → climate regulation → approx. 13 billion tons carbon annually → biological marketplace → 2011 study। Exam में reverse question भी पूछा जा सकता है कि 2026 Tyler Prize किसने जीता या Toby Kiers का research किस type के networks पर था। Source clearly Toby Kiers को award recipient बताता है। इसलिए option A सही है।
