Goa's only zoo, situated within Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary, is set to receive new animals after around 12 years, including a barking deer and a pair of sloth bears.

Despite its small size, Bondla is an important wildlife resort. It was initially established as a refuge for orphaned and injured animals.

Today the sanctuary complex includes a deer safari park, rose garden, zoo and botanical garden.

Rivers | नदियाँ
The Rangado River flows along its eastern side, while the Madhel flows across its northern side.

The sanctuary is predominantly covered by moist deciduous forest, with small patches of semi-evergreen forest and cane along streams.

Important trees include Terminalia crenulata, locally known as Matti and recognised as the state tree of Goa, along with rosewood.
