The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation released National Industrial Classification 2025 on 18 November 2025 during the culmination ceremony of the 75th anniversary of the National Sample Survey and World Statistics Day 2025 at Udaipur.

सांख्यिकी एवं कार्यक्रम कार्यान्वयन मंत्रालय ने 18 नवंबर 2025 को उदयपुर में राष्ट्रीय नमूना सर्वेक्षण की 75वीं वर्षगांठ और विश्व सांख्यिकी दिवस 2025 के समापन समारोह के दौरान राष्ट्रीय औद्योगिक वर्गीकरण 2025 जारी किया।

What is NIC? | एनआईसी क्या है?

NIC is India's standard classification system for systematically categorising economic activities. It is used in statistical surveys, censuses, economic research, administrative datasets, national accounts and policy analysis.

एनआईसी भारत में आर्थिक गतिविधियों को व्यवस्थित रूप से वर्गीकृत करने की मानक प्रणाली है। इसका उपयोग सांख्यिकीय सर्वेक्षणों, जनगणनाओं, आर्थिक अनुसंधान, प्रशासनिक आँकड़ों, राष्ट्रीय खातों और नीति विश्लेषण में किया जाता है।

Six-Digit Structure | छह अंकों की संरचना

A major change in NIC-2025 is the movement from the five-digit coding structure used in NIC-2008 to a more granular six-digit structure. This enables finer identification of emerging economic activities.

एनआईसी-2025 का एक प्रमुख परिवर्तन एनआईसी-2008 की पाँच अंकों वाली कोड संरचना से अधिक विस्तृत छह अंकों वाली संरचना की ओर जाना है। इससे नई आर्थिक गतिविधियों की अधिक सूक्ष्म पहचान संभव होती है।

Alignment with International Standards | अंतरराष्ट्रीय मानकों से सामंजस्य

NIC-2025 has been prepared in alignment with Revision 5 of the International Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities developed under the United Nations statistical framework.

एनआईसी-2025 को संयुक्त राष्ट्र की सांख्यिकीय व्यवस्था के अंतर्गत विकसित सभी आर्थिक गतिविधियों के अंतरराष्ट्रीय मानक औद्योगिक वर्गीकरण के संशोधन-5 के अनुरूप तैयार किया गया है।

Digital Economy | डिजिटल अर्थव्यवस्था

The revision gives improved representation to activities such as cloud infrastructure, blockchain-related services, digital platforms and web-search portals, allowing official statistics to better capture India's changing economy.

नए वर्गीकरण में क्लाउड अवसंरचना, ब्लॉकचेन से संबंधित सेवाओं, डिजिटल मंचों और वेब खोज पोर्टलों जैसी गतिविधियों को बेहतर प्रतिनिधित्व दिया गया है, जिससे भारत की बदलती अर्थव्यवस्था को आधिकारिक आँकड़ों में अधिक सटीक रूप से दर्ज किया जा सके।

Green Economy | हरित अर्थव्यवस्था

NIC-2025 also expands the treatment of activities connected with carbon capture, waste management and environmental remediation, improving the statistical visibility of the green economy.

एनआईसी-2025 में कार्बन ग्रहण, अपशिष्ट प्रबंधन और पर्यावरणीय सुधार जैसी गतिविधियों का वर्गीकरण भी विस्तृत किया गया है, जिससे हरित अर्थव्यवस्था का सांख्यिकीय आकलन बेहतर हो सके।

Important Dates | महत्वपूर्ण तिथियाँ

1962: India's National Industrial Classification was first introduced. / भारत में राष्ट्रीय औद्योगिक वर्गीकरण पहली बार प्रस्तुत किया गया।
1970, 1987, 1990, 1998, 2004 and 2008: Important subsequent NIC revisions were introduced. / एनआईसी के महत्वपूर्ण संशोधित संस्करण जारी किए गए।
18 November 2025: MoSPI released NIC-2025 at Udaipur. / सांख्यिकी एवं कार्यक्रम कार्यान्वयन मंत्रालय ने उदयपुर में एनआईसी-2025 जारी किया।
