Which technology do third generation computers use?
Correct Answer
A. Integrated CircuitsA.
Explanation
The correct answer is Integrated Circuits.
According to the source, third-generation computers are based on Integrated Circuits.
The book provides a useful four-generation technology sequence: First Generation Computers — Vacuum Tube based; Second Generation Computers — Transistor based; Third Generation Computers — Integrated Circuit based; Fourth Generation Computers — VLSI Microprocessor based.
Therefore the complete source-supported revision chain is: 1st Generation = Vacuum Tubes; 2nd Generation = Transistors; 3rd Generation = Integrated Circuits; 4th Generation = VLSI Microprocessors.
This question reinforces the earlier second-generation question where the source identified transistors as the defining technology.
Students should learn the entire sequence because SSC examinations frequently ask one generation directly while using the remaining technologies as distractors.
In the present question, Transistors, Microprocessors and Vacuum Tubes are distractors for third-generation computers, but the explanation assigns each technology to another generation.
The source specifically uses the expression 'VLSI Microprocessor based' for the fourth generation, and that wording has been preserved.
It does not give dates, example computers, size, speed, programming languages or semiconductor details for these generations in this entry.
Therefore those facts have not been added.
Quick revision: Vacuum Tube → Transistor → Integrated Circuit → VLSI Microprocessor corresponds to First → Second → Third → Fourth Generation.
Therefore option (a), Integrated Circuits, is correct.
स्रोत के अनुसार Third Generation Computers Integrated Circuit based होते हैं। First Generation Computers — Vacuum Tube based; Second Generation Computers — Transistor based; Third Generation Computers — Integrated Circuit based; Fourth Generation Computers — VLSI Microprocessor based। इसलिए complete source-supported revision chain है: 1st Generation = Vacuum Tubes; 2nd Generation = Transistors; 3rd Generation = Integrated Circuits; 4th Generation = VLSI Microprocessors। Source Fourth Generation के लिए specifically 'VLSI Microprocessor based' wording use करती है और इसे preserve किया गया है। Quick revision: Vacuum Tube → Transistor → Integrated Circuit → VLSI Microprocessor = First → Second → Third → Fourth Generation।
