Third generation computers used:
Correct Answer
B. Integrated CircuitsB.
Explanation
The correct answer is Integrated Circuits.
According to the source, third-generation computers were Integrated Circuit based.
The book gives a broader generation sequence in the explanation: First Generation — Vacuum Tube based; Second Generation — Transistor based; Third Generation — Integrated Circuit based; Fourth Generation — VLSI Microprocessor based; Fifth Generation — ULSI Microprocessor based.
Therefore the source-supported revision chain is: 1st = Vacuum Tubes; 2nd = Transistors; 3rd = Integrated Circuits; 4th = VLSI Microprocessors; 5th = ULSI Microprocessors.
This question reinforces Q670, where the third generation was also identified with Integrated Circuits.
Students should learn the complete sequence because SSC questions often use the technologies of neighbouring generations as distractors.
The source does not provide years, example machines or other technical characteristics in this entry.
Therefore those details have not been added.
Quick revision: Vacuum Tube → Transistor → Integrated Circuit → VLSI Microprocessor → ULSI Microprocessor corresponds to First → Second → Third → Fourth → Fifth Generation according to the book.
Therefore option (b), Integrated Circuits, is correct.
स्रोत के अनुसार Third Generation computers Integrated Circuit based थे। First Generation — Vacuum Tube based; Second Generation — Transistor based; Third Generation — Integrated Circuit based; Fourth Generation — VLSI Microprocessor based; Fifth Generation — ULSI Microprocessor based। इसलिए source-supported revision chain है: 1st = Vacuum Tubes; 2nd = Transistors; 3rd = Integrated Circuits; 4th = VLSI Microprocessors; 5th = ULSI Microprocessors। Source इस entry में years, example computers या detailed characteristics नहीं देती। Quick revision: Vacuum Tube → Transistor → Integrated Circuit → VLSI → ULSI = First → Second → Third → Fourth → Fifth Generation।
