What is the full form of PROM?
Correct Answer
C. Programmable Read-Only MemoryC.
Explanation
The correct answer is Programmable Read-Only Memory.
According to the source, PROM stands for Programmable Read-Only Memory.
The book describes PROM as a computer-memory chip that can be programmed once after it has been created.
Once the PROM has been programmed, the information written into it becomes permanent and cannot be erased or deleted.
Therefore the complete source-supported revision chain is: PROM — Programmable Read-Only Memory — computer memory chip — can be programmed once after creation — written information becomes permanent — cannot be erased or deleted.
Program Read-Only Memory, Primary Read-Only Memory and Program Read-Output Memory are distractors.
This question tests both an abbreviation and a characteristic of the memory type.
The key phrase to remember from the source is 'programmed once'.
That clue can help identify PROM even when the full form is not directly asked.
The source does not compare PROM with ROM, EPROM or EEPROM, and it does not discuss programming voltage, memory technology or typical applications.
Therefore those additional details have not been added.
A reverse question may ask which memory chip can be programmed once after manufacture and then retains permanent information; according to this source, the answer is PROM.
Quick revision: PROM = Programmable Read-Only Memory — Program Once — Permanent Information — Cannot be Erased or Deleted.
Therefore option (c) is correct.
स्रोत के अनुसार PROM का full form Programmable Read-Only Memory है। PROM — Programmable Read-Only Memory — Computer Memory Chip — Programmed Once after Creation — Information Permanent — Cannot be Erased or Deleted। Program Read-Only Memory, Primary Read-Only Memory और Program Read-Output Memory distractors हैं। Source का key phrase है 'can be programmed once'। Quick revision: PROM = Programmable Read-Only Memory — One-time Programming — Permanent Data — Cannot Erase/Delete।
