Correct Answer
Explanation
The correct answer is Option C: 20th East Asia Summit (EAS).
The 20th East Asia Summit adopted the Kuala Lumpur Declaration in 2025, marking an important milestone in the evolution of the East Asia Summit process.
The East Asia Summit was established in 2005 as a leaders-led forum for strategic dialogue and cooperation on major political, security and economic issues affecting the Indo-Pacific region.
Therefore, the year 2025 also marked the 20th anniversary of the EAS.
The Kuala Lumpur Declaration reaffirmed the participating countries' commitment to the East Asia Summit as an important platform for dialogue and practical cooperation.
ASEAN remains at the centre of the EAS architecture, and the forum operates within the broader ASEAN-led regional framework.
India is one of the participating countries of the East Asia Summit and has been associated with the forum since its establishment.
The EAS brings together ASEAN member states and important regional partners, making it a significant platform in the Indo-Pacific institutional architecture.
For competitive examinations, students should remember the direct association: Kuala Lumpur Declaration → 20th East Asia Summit → 2025.
This can be asked as a direct current-affairs question or combined with questions about ASEAN, India's participation, the establishment year of EAS, or ASEAN centrality.
Hence, the correct answer is the 20th East Asia Summit.
