Which of the following states is NOT famous for the Bhut Jolokia pepper?

Which of the following states is NOT famous for…

Correct Answer

A. OdishaA.

Explanation

The correct answer is Odisha.
According to the source, Odisha is not one of the states especially famous for Bhut Jolokia, whereas Assam, Nagaland and Manipur are associated with its cultivation.
Bhut Jolokia is also popularly known as ghost pepper, ghost chilli or ghost jolokia.
The source describes it as an interspecific hybrid chilli pepper cultivated in several north-eastern Indian states, particularly Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland and Manipur.
It further identifies Bhut Jolokia as a hybrid involving Capsicum chinense and Capsicum frutescens and states that it is closely related to the Naga Morich found in Nagaland and Bangladesh.
For competitive examinations, this question is useful not only as a state-GK question but also for agriculture and geographical-indication-type preparation because famous agricultural products are frequently matched with their regions.
The strongest memory association should be Bhut Jolokia — North-East India, especially Assam, Nagaland and Manipur.
Odisha is geographically in eastern India and is the odd option in this particular source-based question.
SSC often gives three closely related north-eastern states and one unrelated state to test regional knowledge.
Students should also remember the alternative name 'Ghost Pepper', because an examination can reverse the question and ask what Bhut Jolokia is commonly called.
Thus the key facts are: Bhut Jolokia — ghost pepper; associated mainly with north-eastern India; and in this question Odisha is the state that is NOT famous for it.
