Kalibanga

• Excavation of Kalibanga was carried out in 1953 under the direction of Amalanand Ghosh and in 1961 by V. B. Lal and B. K. Thapar.

• The houses of Kalibanga were made of mud bricks, whereas most houses of Mohenjodaro were made of burnt bricks.

• A cylindrical seal has been found from Kalibanga, which is a specialty of Mesopotamia.

• Excavations at Kalibanga reveal five levels of the Harappan cultural phase.

• At Kalibanga, there were three types of funeral practices:
– Full burial
– Partial burial
– Cremation

• Kalibanga is an important site of the Indus Civilization located on the left bank of the Ghaggar River in Hanumangarh district of Rajasthan.

कालीबंगा

• कालीबंगा की खुदाई 1953 में अमलानंद घोष के निर्देशन में तथा 1961 में वी. बी. लाल और बी. के. थापर द्वारा की गई।

• कालीबंगा के घर कच्ची ईंटों (मिट्टी की ईंट) से बने थे, जबकि मोहनजोदड़ो के घर पकी ईंटों से बने थे।

• कालीबंगा से बेलनाकार मुहर (Cylindrical seal) मिली है, जो मेसोपोटामिया की विशेषता है।

• कालीबंगा की खुदाई से हड़प्पा संस्कृति के पाँच स्तर प्राप्त हुए हैं।

• कालीबंगा में तीन प्रकार के अंतिम संस्कार पाए गए:
– पूर्ण दफन
– आंशिक दफन
– दाह संस्कार

• कालीबंगा घग्गर नदी के बाएँ किनारे, राजस्थान के हनुमानगढ़ जिले में स्थित एक महत्वपूर्ण हड़प्पा स्थल है।
