1. India Launches Indigenous Ocean Research Vessel “Sagar Manthan”
India launched its advanced indigenous Ocean Research Vessel (ORV) Sagar Manthan at the Rishi Bankim Shipyard in Kolkata.
The vessel has been designed and built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) for the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR).
Its estimated construction cost is around ₹840 crore, and the project forms part of the Deep Ocean Mission.

Sagar Manthan will be equipped with:

Dynamic positioning system
Multibeam bathymetry
Multichannel seismic systems
The ship is designed to conduct scientific operations even in difficult environments such as the Southern Ocean.
Its expected operational life is approximately 30 years.

Sagar Manthan will eventually replace ORV Sagar Kanya, India's older ocean-research vessel acquired from Germany in 1983.

2. Cabinet Approves ₹10,783 Crore Railway Multitracking Projects
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved three major railway multitracking projects with a combined investment of approximately ₹10,783 crore.
