SSC Constable (GD) Examination 2026 covers recruitment to the notified constable/rifleman and related posts under the official examination notice. This article explains the Computer-Based Examination (CBE) syllabus and selection stages; it is not a claim that a new admit card, answer key or result has been released today.
The official SSC notice provides the examination rules, physical-stage requirements, eligibility and indicative subject syllabus. Candidates should refer to their own recruitment notice and later corrigenda for applicable dates or revised instructions.
CBE structure and scoring
The examination generally has 80 objective questions for 160 marks, divided into four sections of 20 questions and 40 marks each: General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Knowledge and General Awareness, Elementary Mathematics, and English/Hindi. The standard time allowed is 60 minutes, with applicable compensatory time for eligible candidates.
Under the 2026 notification, 0.25 mark is deducted for each incorrect answer. Unattempted questions do not attract a wrong-answer penalty. Confirm any subsequent change to the scheme through SSC, not through an unofficial mock-test interface.
General Intelligence and Reasoning
Prepare analogies, similarities and differences, spatial visualisation and orientation, visual memory, observation, discrimination, relationship concepts, arithmetic reasoning, figural classification, arithmetic and non-verbal series, coding-decoding and other non-verbal reasoning.
Study both accuracy and speed: practise mixed sets, identify the underlying pattern, and review errors rather than repeatedly solving only one familiar question type.
General Knowledge and General Awareness
The indicative coverage includes current events and matters of everyday observation with a scientific aspect, along with India and neighbouring countries, sports, history, culture, geography, economic scene, general polity, Indian Constitution and scientific research.
For current affairs, prefer dated, source-backed information; static topics require conceptual revision rather than memorising isolated headlines.
Elementary Mathematics
Prepare number systems, computation of whole numbers, decimals and fractions, relationships between numbers, fundamental arithmetic operations, percentages, ratio and proportion, averages, interest, profit and loss, discount, mensuration, time and distance, ratio and time, and time and work.
Practise unit conversion, approximate checks and alternative methods to catch calculation mistakes. Keep a separate error log for formulas, sign errors and misread conditions.
English/Hindi and later stages
The language section tests basic comprehension and language understanding at the notified level. Choose the appropriate English or Hindi option in accordance with the official examination instructions.
Candidates qualifying the computer-based stage may be called for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Physical Standard Test (PST), medical examination and document verification as prescribed. Physical standards and relaxations are category- and region-specific; do not use a generic height or running target without checking the notice.

परीक्षा संरचना और अंक
कंप्यूटर आधारित परीक्षा में सामान्यतः 80 वस्तुनिष्ठ प्रश्न और कुल 160 अंक होते हैं। चार भागों में प्रत्येक के 20 प्रश्न और 40 अंक होते हैं: सामान्य बुद्धिमत्ता एवं तर्कशक्ति, सामान्य ज्ञान एवं जागरूकता, प्रारंभिक गणित तथा अंग्रेज़ी/हिंदी। सामान्य समय 60 मिनट है; पात्र अभ्यर्थियों को नियमों के अनुसार अतिरिक्त समय मिल सकता है।
वर्ष 2026 की अधिसूचना के अनुसार प्रत्येक गलत उत्तर पर 0.25 अंक काटा जाता है। बिना उत्तर छोड़े गए प्रश्न पर गलत उत्तर का दंड नहीं लगता।
सामान्य बुद्धिमत्ता एवं तर्कशक्ति
सादृश्य, समानता-असमानता, स्थानिक कल्पना, दिशा एवं स्थिति, दृश्य स्मृति, अवलोकन, विभेदन, संबंध, अंकगणितीय तर्क, आकृति वर्गीकरण, संख्या तथा आकृति श्रेणियां और कूटलेखन-कूटवाचन का अभ्यास करें।
विभिन्न प्रकार के प्रश्नों का मिश्रित अभ्यास करें। केवल एक ही प्रश्न-प्रारूप बार-बार हल करने के बजाय गलतियों का कारण समझें।
सामान्य ज्ञान एवं जागरूकता
समसामयिक घटनाएं, दैनिक जीवन के वैज्ञानिक पहलू, भारत और पड़ोसी देश, खेल, इतिहास, संस्कृति, भूगोल, अर्थव्यवस्था, राजव्यवस्था, भारतीय संविधान तथा वैज्ञानिक अनुसंधान प्रमुख विषय हैं।
समसामयिक घटनाओं के लिए तिथि और विश्वसनीय स्रोत के साथ नोट्स बनाएं। स्थिर सामान्य ज्ञान में तथ्यों के साथ उनके संदर्भ को भी समझें।
प्रारंभिक गणित
संख्या पद्धति, पूर्ण संख्याएं, दशमलव, भिन्न, संख्याओं के संबंध, मूल अंकगणितीय संक्रियाएं, प्रतिशत, अनुपात-समानुपात, औसत, ब्याज, लाभ-हानि, छूट, क्षेत्रमिति, समय-दूरी तथा समय-कार्य का अभ्यास करें।
गणना की त्रुटियां पकड़ने के लिए उत्तर का अनुमान, इकाई परिवर्तन और वैकल्पिक विधि का प्रयोग करें।
भाषा एवं आगे के चरण
अंग्रेज़ी/हिंदी भाग में निर्धारित स्तर की भाषा-समझ और बोध क्षमता जांची जाती है। आधिकारिक निर्देशों के अनुसार भाषा चुनें।
