Introduction (English)
A shore-based Launch and Recovery System (LARS) Test Plinth was inaugurated on 19 August 2026 at the Submarine Rescue Unit (East) in Visakhapatnam. The facility was opened by Vice Admiral Sanjay Bhalla, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command.

What is the LARS and DSRV? (English)
LARS is the mechanical and handling arrangement used to safely deploy and recover a Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle (DSRV). A DSRV is a specialised underwater rescue platform designed to evacuate crew from a disabled submarine during emergencies.
