D.
Banerji is associated with the archaeological discovery and excavation of Mohenjo-daro in the early 1920s.
The city's location in the Indus floodplain provided access to fertile agricultural land and communication routes, but periodic flooding also influenced the settlement's history.
The name Mohenjo-daro is commonly translated as 'Mound of the Dead'.
For examination mapping, remember: Mohenjo-daro—Sindh—Indus River; Harappa—Punjab—Ravi; Ropar—Sutlej; Kalibangan—Ghaggar region.
The association with the Indus River helped give rise to the term Indus Valley Civilization, although the civilization actually extended across a far wider geographic region beyond the immediate Indus valley.
