Article 94 provides that the Speaker of the Lok Sabha may resign by writing addressed to the Deputy Speaker.
Correspondingly, the Deputy Speaker may resign by writing addressed to the Speaker.
The constitutional arrangement identifies the office to which the resignation is submitted.
It should not be confused with the resignation procedure for other constitutional offices, such as the President or Vice-President.
The Speaker and Deputy Speaker are elected by the Lok Sabha from among its members, and the provisions governing their offices are contained in Articles 93 to 97.
