Amaravati Stupa is located in which state of India?
Correct Answer
C. Andhra PradeshC.
Explanation
The correct answer is Andhra Pradesh.
According to the source, the Amaravati Stupa, popularly described as the Great Stupa at Amaravati, is a ruined Buddhist monument situated at Amaravathi village in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh.
The source states that the monument was probably constructed in phases between the third century BCE and approximately 250 CE.
These details make the question relevant not only to States GK but also to ancient Indian history, Buddhism and art and architecture.
For the direct examination question, the essential association is Amaravati Stupa — Andhra Pradesh.
The village and district information supplied by the book provides an additional level of preparation: Amaravathi village — Guntur district — Andhra Pradesh.
Since the source identifies it as a Buddhist monument, students should also connect Amaravati with Buddhist heritage.
The broad construction period given in the book is useful because it indicates that the monument developed over multiple historical phases rather than being presented as the product of a single year.
The other options—Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra—also contain important Buddhist or ancient sites, which can make the question confusing for students who know only that Amaravati is an ancient monument.
Location-based heritage questions are common in SSC examinations.
Therefore the most useful revision chain is: Amaravati Stupa — Buddhist monument — Amaravathi village — Guntur district — Andhra Pradesh — constructed in phases from approximately the third century BCE to about 250 CE.
Hence option (c) is correct.
