Explanation
The correct answer is Kerala.
According to the source, the Silent Valley Movement began in 1973 in Kerala.
The book states that the movement was led by school teachers and the Kerala Sastra Sahitya Parishad, abbreviated as KSSP.
Its main objective was to protect the Silent Valley from being flooded by a proposed hydroelectric project.
The source further says that Silent Valley was later declared a national park in 1985.
These details make the question important for environmental history as well as States GK.
The central association is Silent Valley Movement — Kerala — 1973.
Students should also remember the purpose of the movement because SSC may ask the same fact in a statement-based form: it was an environmental campaign intended to protect the valley from the impact of a hydroelectric project.
The source specifically mentions school teachers and KSSP as important participants, making these useful supplementary facts.
The year 1985 is another important source-based point because the book links it with the declaration of Silent Valley as a national park.
For effective revision, remember the chain: Silent Valley Movement — Kerala — 1973 — school teachers and KSSP — opposition to flooding from hydroelectric project — Silent Valley National Park in 1985.
Himachal Pradesh, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh are not identified by the source as the place where this movement began.
Therefore option (a), Kerala, is correct.
