Introduction / परिचय
Subject–Verb Agreement means that the verb should agree with its subject in number and person.
Subject–Verb Agreement का अर्थ है कि वाक्य में क्रिया का प्रयोग कर्ता के वचन और पुरुष के अनुसार होना चाहिए।

Rule 1 / नियम 1
A singular subject normally takes a singular verb.
एकवचन कर्ता के साथ सामान्यतः एकवचन क्रिया आती है।
He goes to school. / वह विद्यालय जाता है।
Rule 2 / नियम 2
A plural subject normally takes a plural verb.
बहुवचन कर्ता के साथ सामान्यतः बहुवचन क्रिया आती है।
They play cricket. / वे क्रिकेट खेलते हैं।
Rule 3 — Each and Every / नियम 3 — Each और Every
Each and Every normally take a singular verb.
Each और Every के साथ सामान्यतः एकवचन क्रिया आती है।
Every student is ready. / प्रत्येक छात्र तैयार है।
Each player has a bat. / प्रत्येक खिलाड़ी के पास बल्ला है।
Rule 4 — Each of / नियम 4 — Each of
Each of + plural noun/pronoun + singular verb
Each of the students is intelligent.
प्रत्येक छात्र बुद्धिमान है।
Rule 5 — One of / नियम 5 — One of
One of + plural noun + singular verb
One of the boys is absent.
लड़कों में से एक अनुपस्थित है।
Rule 6 — Everyone, Everybody, Somebody, Nobody
These normally take singular verbs.
इनके साथ सामान्यतः एकवचन क्रिया आती है।
Everyone wants success. / प्रत्येक व्यक्ति सफलता चाहता है।
Rule 7 — Either...or / Neither...nor
The verb generally agrees with the subject nearest to it.
क्रिया सामान्यतः अपने सबसे निकट वाले कर्ता के अनुसार आती है।
Either Ram or his friends are coming.
या तो राम या उसके मित्र आ रहे हैं।
Either the students or the teacher is responsible.
या तो छात्र या शिक्षक जिम्मेदार है।
Rule 8 — Along with / As well as / Together with
The verb agrees with the main subject.
क्रिया मुख्य कर्ता के अनुसार आती है।
Ram, along with his friends, is coming.
राम अपने मित्रों के साथ आ रहा है।
Rule 9 — A Number of / The Number of
A number of + plural noun + plural verb
A number of students are absent.
कई छात्र अनुपस्थित हैं।
The number of + plural noun + singular verb
The number of students is increasing.
छात्रों की संख्या बढ़ रही है।
Rule 10 — News / नियम 10 — News
News takes a singular verb.
News के साथ एकवचन क्रिया आती है।
The news is true. / समाचार सत्य है।
Rule 11 — Mathematics / नियम 11 — Mathematics
When Mathematics refers to the academic subject, it takes a singular verb.
जब Mathematics विषय के अर्थ में प्रयोग हो, तो उसके साथ एकवचन क्रिया आती है।
Mathematics is interesting. / गणित रोचक है।
Rule 12 — Police / नियम 12 — Police
Police normally takes a plural verb.
Police के साथ सामान्यतः बहुवचन क्रिया आती है।
The police are investigating the case. / पुलिस मामले की जाँच कर रही है।
