Between and Among

Between is commonly used for distinct individual persons/things, especially two.

Among refers to being within a group.

Examples:

Beside vs Besides

Beside = next to / बगल में

She sat beside me.

Besides = in addition to / इसके अतिरिक्त

Besides English, she studies mathematics.


By vs With

By often indicates the doer in passive voice.

The poem was written by Tagore.

With often indicates an instrument.

He cut the fruit with a knife.


Into vs In

Into indicates movement from outside to inside.

He went into the room.

In indicates position.

He is in the room.


Across vs Through

Across → from one side to another over a surface/open area.

He walked across the road.

Through → movement within an enclosed or surrounding space.

The train passed through the tunnel.
