Pune, Maharashtra hosted the five-day BRICS Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Track from 17 to 21 August 2026. The event opened on 17 August as the 7th Meeting of the BRICS Working Group for Cooperation in ICTs under India’s 2026 chairship theme: "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability".

Organisers and Key Person — English
The meeting was organised by the Department of Telecommunications, Government of India. Amit Agrawal, Secretary, Department of Telecommunications, inaugurated the 7th Working Group meeting on 17 August 2026. Delegates reviewed priorities from India’s chairship Issues Note and responses to a Survey Questionnaire shared among BRICS members.

During the event, the Council of the BRICS Institute of Future Networks met to review activities of national branches. The Council received updates from study groups on artificial intelligence (AI), next-generation communications, Industry 4.0 internet applications, and electromagnetic field exposure.

The event programme included the Digital BRICS Forum & Expo on 20 August 2026. This forum preceded the 12th BRICS Communications Ministers Meeting and centred on digital ecosystems and technological cooperation among BRICS members.
