Who was the Chairman of the Union Constitution Committee?
Correct Answer
A. Jawaharlal NehruA.
Explanation
The source identifies Jawaharlal Nehru as the Chairman of the Union Constitution Committee.
He also chaired the Union Powers Committee.
These committees were among the major committees constituted by the Constituent Assembly for handling different dimensions of constitution-making.
The names of the committees themselves provide a useful clue: the Union Constitution Committee dealt with constitutional questions relating to the Union, while the Union Powers Committee was concerned with powers assigned to the Union.
Nehru's association with both makes an effective memory pair for examinations.
The source separately identifies Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel with the Provincial Constitution Committee and the Advisory Committee on Fundamental Rights, Minorities and Tribal and Excluded Areas.
Dr.
Rajendra Prasad chaired the Committee on the Rules of Procedure and the Steering Committee.
Dr.
B.
R.
Ambedkar chaired the Drafting Committee formed on 29 August 1947.
These distinctions are important because competitive examinations frequently provide names of committees and ask candidates to identify the correct chairman.
For quick revision, associate Jawaharlal Nehru with the two committees beginning with 'Union'—Union Powers Committee and Union Constitution Committee.
