Its total membership was 389.
The source breaks this total into 292 seats for the eleven British Indian provinces, 93 seats for princely states and four seats for the four Chief Commissioners' provinces.
It also states that elections for the purpose of forming the Constituent Assembly were held in July-August 1946.
The first meeting of the Constituent Assembly took place on 9 December 1946.
The source separately states that a Constituent Assembly for Pakistan was formed under the Mountbatten Plan, making the distinction between the two plans important.
