In which state of India is Gol Gumbaz situated?
Correct Answer
B. KarnatakaB.
Explanation
The correct answer is Karnataka.
According to the source, Gol Gumbaz is situated at Bijapur, now referred to in the source context as Vijayapura, in Karnataka.
The source describes it as the mausoleum of Ibrahim Adil Shah II of the Adil Shahi dynasty.
It states that construction of the tomb began in 1626 and was completed in 1656.
The source further explains that its name is connected with 'Gol Gumbad', meaning a circular dome.
This question therefore combines state GK, architecture and medieval-history-related information.
The primary location association is Gol Gumbaz — Vijayapura
Bijapur — Karnataka.
Students should remember the monument together with the Adil Shahi dynasty because examination questions can ask either its location or the ruler associated with it.
According to the source, the monument is the mausoleum of Ibrahim Adil Shah II.
The dates 1626 and 1656 are additional source facts that may be useful for detailed revision, although the direct PYQ asks only the state.
Monument-state questions are common in SSC examinations, and the options often include neighbouring or historically important states to create confusion.
Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Kerala are all southern or western Indian states with important monuments, but Gol Gumbaz is specifically in Karnataka.
For quick revision, use the chain: Gol Gumbaz — Bijapur
Vijayapura — Karnataka — Ibrahim Adil Shah II — Adil Shahi dynasty.
Based on the source, option (b) is correct.
Quick revision chain रखें: Gol Gumbaz — Bijapur/Vijayapura — Karnataka — Ibrahim Adil Shah II — Adil Shahi dynasty।
