What is Error Detection? / Error Detection क्या है?

In Error Detection questions, a sentence is divided into parts. You have to identify the part containing a grammatical error.

Error Detection प्रश्नों में एक वाक्य को कई भागों में बाँटा जाता है। आपको उस भाग को पहचानना होता है जिसमें व्याकरणिक त्रुटि हो।


Rule 1 — Subject–Verb Agreement

नियम 1 — कर्ता-क्रिया सामंजस्य

Each of the boys is ready.

Not:

Each of the boys are ready.

“Each” takes a singular verb.

“Each” के साथ एकवचन क्रिया आती है।


Rule 2 — One of

नियम 2 — One of

One of the students is absent.

“Students” is plural but the real subject is “One”.

“Students” बहुवचन है, लेकिन मुख्य कर्ता “One” है।


Rule 3 — Since and For

नियम 3 — Since और For

Since is generally used with a point of time.

Since का प्रयोग सामान्यतः समय के निश्चित बिंदु के साथ होता है।

Since Monday / सोमवार से

Since 2020 / 2020 से

For is used with a period of time.

For का प्रयोग समय की अवधि के साथ होता है।

For two years / दो वर्षों से

For five days / पाँच दिनों से


Rule 4 — Articles / नियम 4 — Articles

Use an before a vowel sound.

स्वर ध्वनि से पहले an का प्रयोग करें।

an honest man

because “honest” begins with a vowel sound.

क्योंकि “honest” की शुरुआत स्वर ध्वनि से होती है।


Rule 5 — Comparative Degree

नियम 5 — Comparative Degree

Do not normally use a double comparative.

दो comparative forms का एक साथ प्रयोग न करें।

Wrong / गलत:

more better

Correct / सही:

better


Rule 6 — Discuss

नियम 6 — Discuss

“Discuss” normally does not take “about” before its object.

“Discuss” के बाद सामान्यतः “about” नहीं लगाया जाता।

Correct:

We discussed the problem.


Rule 7 — Return

नियम 7 — Return

Avoid unnecessary “back”.

“Return” में वापस आने का अर्थ पहले से मौजूद है।

Wrong:

He returned back.

Correct:

He returned.


Rule 8 — Prefer

नियम 8 — Prefer

Standard structure:

prefer X to Y

Correct:

I prefer tea to coffee.

मैं कॉफी की अपेक्षा चाय पसंद करता हूँ।


Rule 9 — Senior/Junior

नियम 9 — Senior/Junior

Use to, not “than”.

He is senior to me.

वह मुझसे वरिष्ठ है।


Rule 10 — Much/Many

नियम 10 — Much/Many

Many → countable plural nouns

Many books / बहुत-सी पुस्तकें

Much → uncountable nouns

Much water / बहुत पानी
