Light /
The source describes light as a form of energy propagated as an electromagnetic wave. It enables our eyes to see objects.
Speed of Light /
The source gives the speed of light as 3 × 108 m/s.
- Light is an electromagnetic wave. / Light एक electromagnetic wave है।
- It is a transverse wave. / यह transverse wave है।
- Source states that sunlight takes 8 min 19 s to reach Earth.
- Reflected light from the Moon takes 1.28 s to reach Earth according to the source.
Reflection of Light /
When a light ray strikes a boundary separating two media and returns into the same medium, the phenomenon is called reflection.
Laws of Reflection /
- The incident ray, reflected ray and normal at the point of incidence lie in the same plane.
- Angle of reflection equals angle of incidence. / Angle of Reflection = Angle of Incidence.
Plane Mirror /
- Image is virtual. / Image virtual
- Image is laterally inverted. / Image laterally inverted
- Image size equals object size.
- If an object approaches a mirror with speed v, image approaches the object relatively at 2v according to the source.
- For a full image, mirror length must be at least half the person's height.
Two Plane Mirrors /
The source provides the relation n = (360°/θ) − 1 for the number of images in the stated context, where θ is the angle between mirrors.
Spherical Mirrors /
Spherical mirrors are of two types: Concave Mirror and Convex Mirror.
Convex Mirror /
The image formed by a convex mirror is always virtual, erect and diminished according to the source.
Concave Mirror /
The source states that the image formed by a concave mirror is generally real and inverted.
Uses of Concave Mirror /
- Shaving glass / Shaving mirror
- Vehicle headlights / Vehicle headlights के reflector
- Searchlights / Searchlights
- Ophthalmoscope / Ophthalmoscope
- Solar cookers / Solar cooker
Uses of Convex Mirror /
- Rear-view mirror because it provides a wide rear field of view and erect image. / Vehicles में rear-view mirror क्योंकि यह wider field of view देता है।
- Sodium reflector lamp / Sodium reflector lamp
