In November 2025, reports of Chinese coast guard vessels operating near the Senkaku Islands renewed attention on the maritime and territorial dispute in the East China Sea.

The Senkaku Islands are a group of uninhabited islands in the East China Sea, northeast of Taiwan and west of Japan's Okinawa region.
सेनकाकू पूर्वी चीन सागर में स्थित निर्जन द्वीपों का समूह है। यह ताइवान के उत्तर-पूर्व और जापान के ओकिनावा क्षेत्र के पश्चिम में स्थित है।
Different Names | अलग-अलग नाम
Japan calls them the Senkaku Islands, mainland China calls them Diaoyu Dao, and Taiwan uses the name Diaoyutai Islands.
जापान इन्हें सेनकाकू द्वीप कहता है, मुख्यभूमि चीन इन्हें दियाओयू दाओ कहता है और ताइवान में इनके लिए दियाओयुताई द्वीप नाम प्रयुक्त होता है।
Administration and Claims | प्रशासन और दावे
Japan administers the islands as part of Okinawa Prefecture. The People's Republic of China and Taiwan also claim sovereignty. The dispute is not between China and Russia.
जापान इन द्वीपों का प्रशासन ओकिनावा प्रीफेक्चर के हिस्से के रूप में करता है। चीन जनवादी गणराज्य और ताइवान भी इन पर संप्रभुता का दावा करते हैं। यह चीन और रूस के बीच का विवाद नहीं है।

Important named features include Uotsuri, Kuba, Taisho, Kitakojima and Minamikojima, along with smaller islets and rocks.
प्रमुख द्वीपों में उओत्सुरी, कुबा, ताइशो, किताकोजिमा और मिनामिकोजिमा शामिल हैं। इनके अतिरिक्त छोटे द्वीप और चट्टानी स्थल भी हैं।

Strategic Importance | सामरिक महत्व
The islands lie near important shipping routes and fishing grounds. Sovereignty over islands can also affect claims to surrounding maritime zones under international law, subject to the applicable legal framework and maritime delimitation.
ये द्वीप महत्वपूर्ण समुद्री व्यापार मार्गों और मत्स्य क्षेत्रों के निकट स्थित हैं। अंतरराष्ट्रीय कानून तथा समुद्री सीमांकन के लागू प्रावधानों के अधीन द्वीपों पर संप्रभुता आसपास के समुद्री क्षेत्रों पर दावों को भी प्रभावित कर सकती है।

The islands include sedimentary and volcanic rock formations, with local geological differences among the islands and surrounding seabed.
इन द्वीपों में अवसादी और ज्वालामुखीय शैल संरचनाएँ पाई जाती हैं। विभिन्न द्वीपों और आसपास के समुद्र तल की भूवैज्ञानिक बनावट में स्थानीय अंतर मौजूद हैं।
