Correct:

I prefer tea to coffee.

Not:

I prefer tea than coffee.

Rule 4 — Senior/Junior/Superior/Inferior

Use to, not “than”.

She is senior to me.

Rule 5 — One of the + Plural Noun

Correct:

He is one of the best players.

Not:

one of the best player

Rule 6 — Too...to

The box is too heavy to lift.

Rule 7 — So...that

He was so tired that he could not walk.

Rule 8 — No sooner...than

No sooner had he arrived than it started raining.

Rule 9 — Hardly/Scarcely...when

Hardly had I reached the station when the train left.

Rule 10 — Capable of

Correct:

She is capable of solving the problem.

Not:

capable to solve
