India Post GDS Recruitment 2026 – 23,757 Vacancies
Latest Update: Department of Posts has opened GDS Online Engagement Schedule-II, July 2026 for 23,757 tentative vacancies. Fresh registration is compulsory even for candidates who registered in an earlier GDS schedule. Registration runs from 31 August to 19 September 2026, 5:00 PM; application submission runs from 2 September to 21 September 2026, 5:00 PM; and the edit/correction window is 23–24 September 2026, 5:00 PM.
Posts
The engagement covers Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) and Dak Sevak. Candidates must understand that GDS are not regular Central Government employees. Their service conditions are governed by the Department of Posts GDS Rules. GDS generally work four to five hours daily, and BPM candidates may have to arrange suitable accommodation for the Branch Post Office at their own cost under the applicable rules.
Educational Qualification
The basic qualification is Class 10/Secondary School Examination with passing marks in Mathematics and English from a recognised Board. The candidate must have studied the prescribed local language at least up to Class 10. Computer knowledge, cycling knowledge and adequate means of livelihood are also among the notified requirements.
Age Limit
The normal age range is 18–40 years as on the prescribed application cut-off. Relaxation includes 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, 10 years for PwBD, 13 years for PwBD+OBC and 15 years for PwBD+SC/ST, subject to the official conditions. EWS candidates receive reservation but no general upper-age relaxation merely for EWS status.
Application Fee
The application fee is ₹100. Female applicants, SC/ST applicants, PwBD applicants and transwomen applicants are exempt under the notification. Payment must be completed through the authorised online methods before the application closing time.
Selection Process
There is no conventional written examination for this GDS engagement. A system-generated merit list is prepared according to the notified Class 10 marks/grade-conversion methodology. Shortlisted candidates subsequently undergo document verification and other prescribed formalities. Candidates must therefore enter Class 10 marks and qualification information exactly as shown in their records.

- BPM: TRCA ₹12,000–₹29,380
- ABPM/Dak Sevak: TRCA ₹10,000–₹24,470
GDS emoluments and entitlements are not the same as those of regular Central Government employees.

- Complete fresh registration for Schedule-II.
- Use the generated registration details to open the application.
- Select eligible Division/post preferences.
- Enter Class 10, local-language and personal information accurately.
- Upload the prescribed photograph/signature and complete fee payment if applicable.
- Submit by 21 September 2026, 5 PM.
- Use the correction window on 23–24 September only if required.

Recognised Board से Class 10 में Mathematics और English के साथ उत्तीर्ण होना आवश्यक है। निर्धारित local language को कम से कम Class 10 तक पढ़ा होना चाहिए। Computer knowledge, cycling knowledge और adequate means of livelihood जैसी conditions भी notification में दी गई हैं।
आयु सीमा
