SSC Junior Engineer Examination 2026 – 1,748 Vacancies
Latest Update: Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the official Junior Engineer Examination 2026 notice on 2 September 2026. The examination will recruit Junior Engineers in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and related disciplines for participating Government of India organizations and also covers Scientific Assistant recruitment in the India Meteorological Department. The current recruitment notice/listing reports 1,748 vacancies. Applications are open from 2 to 22 September 2026.

Vacancy and Participating Organizations
The recruitment covers posts in organizations such as Border Roads Organisation, Brahmaputra Board, Central Water Commission, Central Public Works Department, Central Water Power Research Station, DGQA-NAVAL, Farakka Barrage Project, Military Engineer Services, National Technical Research Organisation, Directorate General of Lighthouses & Lightships, Department of Telecommunications, India Meteorological Department and the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying. Educational Qualification
Qualification is department- and discipline-specific. For example, BRO JE Civil accepts a recognized Civil Engineering degree or a three-year Civil Engineering diploma plus two years of relevant working experience. Brahmaputra Board JE Civil requires a three-year Civil Engineering diploma. Central Water Commission posts accept the prescribed degree/diploma in the relevant engineering discipline. Other organizations have their own Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Telecom or scientific qualifications. Candidates must therefore check the exact organization/post row in the SSC notice instead of assuming that every engineering diploma or degree qualifies for every JE post.
Age Limit
Maximum age is generally up to 30 or 32 years depending on the post/organization, calculated as on 1 August 2026. Category-wise relaxation is available under SSC/Government rules. Applicants should check the exact age column for their preferred organization.
Application Fee
The application fee is ₹100. Women candidates and candidates belonging to SC, ST and other exempt categories specified by SSC are exempt as per the notice. The current listing shows correction charges of ₹200 for the first correction and ₹500 for the second correction. Payment should be made only through the SSC system.
Pay Scale and Selection
The official SSC notice states that the posts are Group B in Level-6, ₹35,400–₹1,12,400 of the 7th Central Pay Commission Pay Matrix. Selection proceeds through Computer Based Examination Paper I and Paper II, followed by document verification/merit procedures prescribed by SSC. Candidates should study the official syllabus because discipline-specific engineering sections are central to the examination.

आयु, शुल्क और वेतन
Post-wise maximum age सामान्यतः 30 या 32 वर्ष तक है और age calculation 1 अगस्त 2026 के अनुसार होगी। Category relaxation SSC/Government rules के अनुसार मिलेगी। Application fee ₹100 है; women, SC, ST तथा notification में निर्धारित exempt categories को शुल्क में छूट है। Official notification के अनुसार posts Group B, Pay Level-6 में हैं, जिसका pay range ₹35,400–₹1,12,400 है।
