Latest Update: Department of Posts has opened Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Online Engagement Schedule-II, July 2026 under Notification No. 17-12/2026-GDS. A total of 23,757 tentative vacancies are notified for Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) and Dak Sevak across postal circles. Fresh registration is required for this schedule; registration numbers from previous schedules are not valid.

Vacancy Details
The official circle-wise annexure totals 23,757 posts: UR 10,640, OBC 4,433, SC 3,082, ST 2,773, EWS 2,160, PwBD-A 192, PwBD-B 227, PwBD-C 178 and PwBD-DE 72. Major circle totals include Maharashtra 2,431, North Eastern 2,504, Tamil Nadu 2,118, West Bengal 1,762, Uttar Pradesh 1,691, Madhya Pradesh 1,450, Kerala 1,373, Jharkhand 1,379 and Bihar 1,098. Eligibility and Age
Applicants need a Class 10 Secondary School Examination pass certificate with passing marks in Mathematics and English from a recognized Board. The prescribed local language must ordinarily have been studied at least up to Class 10. Knowledge of computers and cycling is also prescribed. Minimum age is 18 years and maximum age is 40 years, determined on the last date of application. Upper-age relaxation is 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC and 10 years for PwBD; additional relaxation applies to PwBD candidates belonging to OBC or SC/ST as stated in the notification.
Fee and Selection
