The United Nations Environment Programme released the Emissions Gap Report 2025, titled 'Off Target', which found that updated global climate pledges have produced only limited progress in reducing projected global warming.
संयुक्त राष्ट्र पर्यावरण कार्यक्रम ने 'Off Target' शीर्षक से Emissions Gap Report 2025 जारी की। रिपोर्ट में पाया गया कि देशों द्वारा अद्यतन की गई जलवायु प्रतिबद्धताओं से अनुमानित वैश्विक तापमान वृद्धि को कम करने में केवल सीमित प्रगति हुई है।
What is the Emissions Gap Report? | Emissions Gap Report क्या है?
The Emissions Gap Report is an annual flagship assessment published by the United Nations Environment Programme. It measures the difference between the greenhouse-gas emission levels expected under existing national commitments and the emission levels required to meet the temperature goals of the Paris Agreement.
Emissions Gap Report संयुक्त राष्ट्र पर्यावरण कार्यक्रम द्वारा प्रकाशित एक वार्षिक प्रमुख आकलन है। यह वर्तमान राष्ट्रीय जलवायु प्रतिबद्धताओं के आधार पर अनुमानित greenhouse-gas emissions और Paris Agreement के तापमान लक्ष्यों को प्राप्त करने के लिए आवश्यक emissions के बीच अंतर का आकलन करती है।
Emissions Gap Report 2025 Findings | Emissions Gap Report 2025 के निष्कर्ष
The 2025 report is the sixteenth edition of the series. According to UNEP, full implementation of the available Nationally Determined Contributions would place the world on a pathway towards approximately 2.3°C to 2.5°C of warming during this century.
2025 की रिपोर्ट इस श्रृंखला का सोलहवाँ संस्करण है। UNEP के अनुसार उपलब्ध Nationally Determined Contributions को पूरी तरह लागू किए जाने पर भी इस शताब्दी में वैश्विक तापमान लगभग 2.3°C से 2.5°C तक बढ़ने की संभावना बनी रहती है।
Under current policies, the projected warming is around 2.8°C. Therefore, the world remains substantially away from the Paris Agreement objective of holding temperature rise well below 2°C and pursuing efforts to limit it to 1.5°C.
वर्तमान नीतियों के आधार पर अनुमानित तापमान वृद्धि लगभग 2.8°C है। इसलिए विश्व अभी भी Paris Agreement के तापमान वृद्धि को 2°C से काफी नीचे रखने और इसे 1.5°C तक सीमित करने के प्रयासों के लक्ष्य से काफी दूर है।

Nationally Determined Contributions are climate-action plans prepared by individual countries under the Paris Agreement. They contain national targets and measures for reducing greenhouse-gas emissions and adapting to climate change.
Nationally Determined Contributions वे राष्ट्रीय जलवायु कार्ययोजनाएँ हैं जिन्हें देश Paris Agreement के अंतर्गत तैयार करते हैं। इनमें greenhouse-gas emissions को कम करने तथा climate change के प्रभावों के अनुकूल बनने के लिए राष्ट्रीय लक्ष्य और उपाय शामिल होते हैं।

The Paris Agreement is an international climate treaty adopted under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Its central temperature goal is to keep the increase in global average temperature well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels while pursuing efforts to limit the increase to 1.5°C.

Who Produces the Report? | रिपोर्ट कौन तैयार करता है?
The report is produced by UNEP with contributions from the UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre and a large network of international scientists and research partners.
यह रिपोर्ट UNEP द्वारा UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre तथा अंतरराष्ट्रीय वैज्ञानिकों और शोध संस्थानों के सहयोग से तैयार की जाती है।
Why is the Report Important? | रिपोर्ट क्यों महत्वपूर्ण है?
The report provides an annual scientific check on whether national climate policies and pledges are sufficient to meet international temperature goals. It is normally released shortly before the annual United Nations climate conference so that negotiators have an updated assessment of the scale of additional action required.
यह रिपोर्ट प्रत्येक वर्ष वैज्ञानिक आधार पर यह बताती है कि देशों की जलवायु नीतियाँ और प्रतिबद्धताएँ अंतरराष्ट्रीय तापमान लक्ष्यों को प्राप्त करने के लिए पर्याप्त हैं या नहीं। इसे सामान्यतः वार्षिक संयुक्त राष्ट्र जलवायु सम्मेलन से पहले जारी किया जाता है ताकि वार्ताकारों को आवश्यक अतिरिक्त कार्रवाई के स्तर का नवीनतम आकलन मिल सके।
