1. Alluvial Soil / जलोढ़ मिट्टी

Occurrence: Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand.

Crops: A large variety of Rabi and Kharif crops including wheat, rice, sugarcane, cotton and jute.

Composition: Rich in iron, lime, aluminium, magnesium and calcium but deficient in nitrogen, phosphorus and humus.

Crops: Cotton, sugarcane, jowar, tobacco, wheat and rice.

Black Soil को Regur Soil भी कहा गया है। यह iron, lime, aluminium, magnesium और calcium से rich है लेकिन nitrogen, phosphorus और humus की कमी होती है। Cotton इसके साथ याद रखने वाली important crop है।

3. Red Soil / लाल मिट्टी

Occurrence: Eastern parts of Deccan Plateau, Tamil Nadu, Goa, Odisha and Meghalaya.

Composition: Rich in iron and potash but deficient in lime, nitrogen, phosphorus and humus.

Crops: Wheat, rice, cotton, sugarcane and pulses.

Red Soil Deccan Plateau के eastern parts तथा Tamil Nadu, Goa, Odisha और Meghalaya में पाई जाती है। यह iron और potash से rich लेकिन lime, nitrogen, phosphorus और humus में deficient है।

4. Laterite Soil / लैटेराइट मिट्टी

Occurrence: Summits of Eastern and Western Ghats, Assam Hills, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, West Bengal and Odisha.

Composition: Rich in iron but poor in silica, lime, phosphorus, potash and humus.

Crops: Tea, coffee, rubber, cashew and millets.

Laterite Soil Eastern और Western Ghats के summits तथा Assam Hills आदि में पाई जाती है। Tea, coffee, rubber और cashew इसके साथ महत्वपूर्ण crops हैं।

5. Desert Soil / मरुस्थलीय मिट्टी

Occurrence: Western and North-Western India, Rajasthan, North Gujarat and Southern Punjab.

Composition: Rich in soluble salts but deficient in organic matter.
